The delegation from the Global Peace Summit (GPS) participated in the Doha Forum at the invitation of the State of Qatar. The delegation included Shaikh Mahmud bin Ilyas, founder and chairman of GPS; Syed Muaz Shah, arbitration expert; and Shozab Majeed, international humanitarian law expert.
During the forum, the delegation engaged in high-level discussions concerning the ongoing Gaza crisis with representatives from Qatar’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs, ambassadors from various nations, heads of international think tanks, academics, experts in international law, and other prominent dignitaries.
The discussions underscored the critical need for global collaboration to address the humanitarian crisis resulting from the Gaza War. The delegation highlighted the severe consequences of failing to uphold the International Criminal Court’s (ICC) directives and implement United Nations resolutions alongside international law. They stressed that the inability of all relevant states to achieve a peaceful resolution of the Gaza crisis could result in catastrophic repercussions for humanity. The delegation concluded by emphasizing the urgent need for a reimagined global order to meet the challenges of the current era.
As part of their participation, the Global Peace Summit delegation proposed a structured mediation initiative on the Gaza crisis during the Doha Forum. The initiative seeks to bring together key stakeholders, including representatives from affected regions, international organizations, and influential nations, to create a framework for sustainable peace. By leveraging its vast network of legal, humanitarian, and diplomatic experts, the GPS aims to facilitate dialogue and address critical issues such as ceasefire enforcement, humanitarian aid delivery, and the long-term rebuilding of Gaza. The proposal was met with significant interest from various parties, underscoring the role of the GPS as a catalyst for meaningful peace efforts in the region.
