Palestine Cabinet Mission 2024: Advancing Humanitarian Relief and Multilateral Action for Gaza
On 10 July 2024, the Global Peace Summit launched the Palestine Cabinet Mission, a multilateral diplomatic and humanitarian initiative aimed at addressing the escalating humanitarian crisis arising from the Gaza war. Conceived as a platform for international cooperation and coordinated action, the mission sought to mobilize governments, humanitarian actors, legal experts, and civil society leaders around a shared framework for protecting civilian lives, facilitating humanitarian assistance, and advancing pathways toward peace and stability. The initiative reflected the Global Peace Summit’s commitment to promoting dialogue, humanitarian responsibility, and collective action in response to complex global crises.
At the core of the Palestine Cabinet Mission was a comprehensive eight-point framework designed to address immediate humanitarian needs while supporting long-term peacebuilding efforts. The plan called for an immediate United Nations-monitored ceasefire, the establishment of humanitarian corridors for the safe delivery of aid and movement of civilians, the deployment of international medical teams, and the restoration of supply chains for essential food, water, medicine, and other critical resources. Additional measures focused on the protection and evacuation of vulnerable populations, the safeguarding of civilian rights, and the creation of conditions necessary for recovery, reconstruction, and social stability. The framework emphasized the importance of international cooperation, humanitarian principles, and adherence to international law in responding to the crisis.
To support the implementation and advocacy of these proposals, the Global Peace Summit actively engaged in dialogue with ambassadors, government representatives, international legal experts, ICC lawyers, humanitarian practitioners, and prominent human rights advocates from across the world. These engagements aimed to build consensus around practical humanitarian measures and encourage greater international attention to the needs of affected civilian populations. Through the Palestine Cabinet Mission, the Global Peace Summit sought not only to respond to an urgent humanitarian emergency but also to contribute to broader efforts toward sustainable peace, human dignity, and long-term regional stability.
