Chile has recognized Palestine as a state since 2011, and Boric has previously said the war in Gaza has “no justification” and is “unacceptable.”
“I have decided that Chile will support and join the petition presented by South Africa to the International Court of Justice in The Hague, within the framework of the Convention on the Prevention and Punishment of the Crime of Genocide,” Gabriel Boric said in a message to his country’s Congress.
Israel’s attack has killed at least 36,379 people in Gaza, mostly children and women, according to the Palestinian health ministry in the enclave.
